CONTRADIÇÕES GEOMÉTRICAS

processo de formação e processo de significado.

Antonio Bokel encontrou, nas paisagens urbanas, a geometria além dos grafismos, dos
muros e elementos arquitetônicos. Iniciou a partir daí um diálogo bastante produtivo
que resultou em desconstruções e ampliação de sentidos, em pontos e contrapontos ao
orgânico. Se o geométrico é preciso, regular e previsível por que não procurar a
harmonia nas formas assimétricas?
A cor, a linha e os suportes usados em suas obras expressam, por vezes, a rebeldia ao
óbvio. Apresentam possibilidades reflexivas diversas, oferecendo ao expectador a
experiência das contradições. É estar no mundo com menos rigidez, permitindo que as
linhas se enrolem por caminhos inesperados, concedendo-lhes o direito de não seguirem
num sentido único, mas mudando de direção apenas porque vale mais a pena. O olhar
habituado se surpreenderá com as rupturas, os contrastes e os avessos, mas a intuição
entenderá o percurso.
As cores usadas por Bokel são certamente outra conversa. Outro diálogo entre o artista e
a paisagem de uma cidade cheia de luz e mar. O azul forte, o preto e o branco – em
placas de cor – e a geometria fazem parte da poética desse artista que procura o
aperfeiçoamento de sua pesquisa, desconstruindo diversas formas. O planejamento das
esculturas, resultante do contato com a geometria, confere dimensões outras que
enriquecem a obra de modo contundente.
Quanto mais se afasta do previsível mais instigante se torna a obra de Bokel, que aponta
efetivamente para todas as direções possíveis oriundas de suas observações. Nada
escapa ao seu olhar atento, urbano e seduzido pela idealidade racional da geometria.
Trata-se de dar visibilidade ao conjunto: forma e cor traduzindo a liberdade alcançada
pela experiência e intuição.

Antonio Bokel found, in urban landscapes, geometry beyond graphics, walls and
architectural elements. From there, a very productive dialogue began that resulted in
deconstructions and expansion of meanings, in points and counterpoints to the organic
element. If the geometric is precise, regular and predictable, why not seek harmony in
asymmetrical forms?
The color, the line and the supports used in his works sometimes express a rebellion
against the obvious. They present diverse reflective possibilities, offering the spectator
the experience of contradictions. It's being in the world with less rigidity, allowing the
lines to wind up in unexpected ways, granting them the right not to go in one direction,
but changing direction just because it's more worthwhile. The accustomed look will be
surprised by the ruptures, the contrasts and the opposites, but the intuition will
understand the route.
The colors used by Bokel are certainly another conversation. Another dialogue between
the artist and the landscape of a city full of light and sea. Strong blue, black and white -
in color plates – and geometry are part of the poetics of this artist who seeks to improve
his research, deconstructing various forms. The planning of the sculptures, resulting
from the contact with geometry, gives other dimensions that enrich the work in a
striking way.
The further one departs from the predictable, the more provocative Bokel's work
becomes, which effectively points in all possible directions arising from his
observations. Nothing escapes his attentive, urban gaze, seduced by the rational ideality
of geometry. It is about giving visibility to the whole: shape and color translating the
freedom achieved through experience and intuition.
